Chapter 8: Seek or Destroy

“Are we dead yet?” One of the girls said.

The two women opened their eyes, they looked around and saw the room around them. The whole command center was around them was destroyed, except for the center of the room, with them in the middle. The blast was split in two because of Zero when he cut the cannon in half, and because this the two halves moved away from each other, the center of the CMD was spared and it was never hit, and since the two operators were in that middle, they escaped destruction too. Still holding eachother, the two girls talked

“I don’t believe it, we’re alive!” Said Janus

“How do you think we survived?” Said Rouge, who then started to ponder the answer.

“I think we have a guardian angel watching over us” Janus replied.

Rouge then responded, “I think it’s more of a Red warrior fighting for us”, directly meaning Zero saved them.

“Yea, you’re right there” Janus said back

Rouge knew that both of them had a lot to do. From what Rouge learned they don’t have much time. But first things first, both operators were still holding eachother, it was like they were hugging. Rouge though it was time to get to work.

Rouge: “Uh, Janus?”

Janus: “Yea Rouge?”

Rouge: “You’re still holding me”

“Oh!” Janus mutters as she realizes she holding Rouge, the blond blushes and lets go. “Uhhhhh, Sorry.” Said the blushing Janus. Shaking it off, she then asks, “ Anyway, what did you find out before from the computer?”

“Well”, Rouge began, “It’s bad. The signal was Neo-Arcadian. It seems someone let out a Neo-Arcadian signal inside the base. I’m guessing it’s a team to do something nasty without anyone knowing.”

“But then what was their signal for Rouge?” asked Janus.

Both Girls pondered over this. Then Rouge came us with an answer.

“Not sure, But my money’s on it was a signal to destroy the command room. That would also explain why the NA reploids were attacking Zero to delay him from getting from those cannons, then those cannons can destroy us. Then a team can do whatever they can inside the base with out us knowing… We need to warn everyone, who knows what those intruders will do!”

There was one problem, since the CMD’s center was the only part that wasn’t destroyed, there was nowhere for the girls to go…except down. Both girls started to see this as they looked around them and then both looked down. They saw a few resistance soldiers. The girls yelled down at them.

“Hello!” They both yelled, getting the attention of the three soldiers below them observing the damage. One of them had blond hair and was dressed in the Resistance elite outfit. He also wasn’t wearing the resistance helmet scanner that some of the other resistance soldiers wore.

“Rouge, Janus! What in the world happened? I herd a giant crash and then the lights went off and back on.” Cried the blond elite soldier back to the girls.

“Siegel! It’s you! Help us get down and we’ll tell you everything. We need to hurry, we all might be in big danger. Rouge Shouted back to Siegel.

Ok! Lets get you girls down now. Siegel said back to Rouge. And the three men help the girls get down…

Back outside in the desert, Zero could finally see into the hole that the blast made. Taking out his binoculars he saw nothing but destruction, and no Rouge.

Zero was mortified. He was trying his com repeatedly.

“Rouge, Janus, Can you hear me? Are you ok?”

No response

“Rouge, Janus… please! If you can hear me please answer me!”

After a moment Zero still got nothing but static.

“Dammit! Rouge! Are you there! Please tell me you’re ok…. ROUGE!

Still, nothing.

A red figure was approaching Zero. Normally Zero would have noticed him by now, but his desperation to see if Rouge was ok was getting to him.

“Did Zero had a friend still in there? Why would someone still be there? They had to have been thinking like a fool. But then that means Zero is gonna be really pissed.” Thought the red figure who was looking strait at Zero.

“ROUGE!” Cried Zero into his com, but his thoughts were trying to tell him something “She had to have made it, they had more then enough time to escape. She can’t have died!”

“I’m Sorry Zero, but since I took out your Command center, I would bet that your com system would be down. Whether or not that your friend survived the blast you won’t know for a while.” Said the Voice behind Zero. An emotional Zero turned around and faced the red reploid.

“Fefnir!” Said Zero

“Yep, that’s my name.” Responded Fefnir

“I’d fight you now, but I’ve got better things to do” Said Zero to Fefnir, and then he thought on the inside, “I need to find Rouge, she can’t be dead. And I need to know what she found out.”

But Fefnir was quick on words to reply, “Well, I’m sorry to say but finding your friend is gonna have to wait.”

With a smirk Fefnir took out a orb and threw it into the air. The orb then shot out a giant field and created a giant barrier consuming both Zero and Fefnir.

“What in the world! What did you do Fefnir!” Zero shouted.

Fefnir gave out a short chuckle. “You really think I’d let you go so easily? If you want to see your friend then you’ve got to beat me. Then I’ll let you go, but of course you don’t stand a chance against me. So you won’t be going anywhere but the scrap heap Zero.” When Fefnir finished he activated one of his cannons and it formed on his left arm.

“Dammit! I hold on Rouge, I’ll be coming soon” Thought Zero as he took out his Beam saber and his shield. Fefnir looked at Zero and thought, “Well, I need to buy Levi and Hap some time. I know I can beat Zero, we all have too much to lose if we fail. I Must Win!”

“Lets do this!” Fefnir exclaimed as they took their battle stances.

Both of them charged at eachother and began their fight.

Meanwhile back in the Resistance base…

“WHAT!!!” Cried Siegel as he heard what Rouge told him.

“That’s right, A Neo-Arcadian signal was detected in the base before that cannon hit. Which means there are some NA forces inside the base.” Said Rouge

“And without the Command center we can’t contact for help…” continued Siegel

“So basically we’re in big trouble.” Finished Rouge.

“Since you said you knew where the signal was activated, take me there ok?” Said Siegel

“Sure thing Siegel…” Rouge answered. But then Janus talked, “You all, I’m coming with you.”

Siegel was the first to respond, “ Janus, I think you should go down to the shelters to warn the Humans and Ciel about what’s going on. If their plan is to kill Ciel, then we need to make sure we’re ready for that.”

Janus thought about it and saw he was right, “ Well, you’re right.” Said Janus, “We need to warn everyone. But…Well can one of you guys come with me? Just in case something happens?”

“I’ll go Ms. Janus, I’ll lead the way” Said one of the men with Siegel. So Janus and one of the Soldiers went off to escort Janus to the shelters and Rouge, Siegel, and the other soldier went to where they detected the signal.

Meanwhile…

“Take This!”

Fefnir shot three fireballs strait at Zero. Zero saw the blasts and deflected the first fireball. The second was coming and Zero slashed again and knocked the fireball away, unfortunately it knocked Zero’s saber off balance. The third was about to hit him and Zero couldn’t deflect it in time with the saber, so he leaned backwards and the fireball went over his head by an few inchs, just missing the red reploid.

“That was close” Zero thought, “Time to take this guy out.” Zero got into a battle position and dashed at Fefnir. Fefnir quickly came up with a plan. Instead of jumping over it again he formed his other cannon on his other hand. Fefnir then charged both up and fired a stream of fire energy to the both sides of the dome. Zero paid no attention to what Fefnir was doing and focused on his attack. When Zero got close he whipped his saber out and slashed at Fefnir. Fefnir then used his right cannon and parried the saber and pushed Zero down and he took his feet of the ground. The fire stream pushed Fefnir away from Zero and Zero went straight into the stream pushing him into the wall of the dome-shaped barrier. As Fefnir landed he focused both of his cannons at Zero and blasted Zero with all the firepower he had.

“Perfect! I almost have him. Time to finish this!” Fefnir thought in his head. His body began to glow, an aura of pure energy began to emit from his body. “TAKE THIS! BLAST SHOT!” he yelled. Fefnir’s stream of fire stopped for a moment and he merged both of his cannons together and then fired a giant ball of fire and plasma energy towards Zero. The blast would sure kill him if it caught him off guard. The blast connected, but there was a few problems that Fefnir began to see. First of all the blast didn’t explode when it hit Zero, second Fefnir saw that Zero took almost no damage from his fire stream attack. Third was that the blast started to actually shrink; and last, Zero was yellow. Fefnir quickly added this all together and realized that Zero activated his energy form, absorbed his fire stream attack and is now absorbing the massive energy of his blast shot. If he fired at the Blast shot now it just get absorbed into it, giving Zero even more power. All Fefnir could do is stand and watch as Zero absorbs his attack so Zero can it against Fefnir….just like the last time they fought.

The blast finally became as small as Zero’s hand and he grasped the tiny blast shot in his hand. “Seems like the tables have turned. Time to end this Fefnir.” Zero calmly said to Fefnir. Zero charged all the energy he received from Fefnir into the two orbs in his hand and raised his hands up. A ball of pure energy formed under Zero. The ball grew bigger and bigger till it was the size of Fefnir’s blast shot, and Fefnir began to panic. His arm cannons returned to normal the cannons deformed back into Fefnir’s hands

“Holy Crap. I can’t dodge it, that blast will kill me when it hits. What do I do?”

Fefnir then remember the thing he got in his pocket. A memory came to him of just before he left for this mission.

*flashback*

Fefnir was preparing to go in to join his commanders before they warped, but just before he opened the door, a familiar female voice called him.

“Onii-Chan!” said the voice.

Fefnir turned around and saw a woman infront of him, he remembered her face instantly. “Sister!” he said. “What are you doing here sis? I thought that…”

“I wanted to wish you luck.” Spoke his sister, cutting Fefnir off. “ Are really you sure you can do this? I mean every time you faced Zero in the past, he…welll…”

This time Fefnir finished her sentence “…He almost killed me. I know. You of all people know I’m not going to back down from him just because I’ll get hurt. I know what I’m doing”

“You always say that just before you do something stupid Fefnir…”

“…and you always know whatever you say won’t stop me from doing it.” Fefnir lightly chuckled, “If I did, I bet we both wouldn’t be in Neo-Arcadia right now.”

“yea…. I know I can’t stop you, but take this Fefnir” As his sister said this, she handed him what looked like a saber hilt. “It’s a one of the new prototype shields the Neo-Arcadia Science department is making. You turn it on and it’ll make a reflective shield that will repel all attacks; but be careful it’s mostly untested and it won’t last long too, so use it in emergencies.”

Fefnir, amazed, looked at the device and replied, “Thank you but you know you’re not suppose to take stuff from the lab sis, that’s how you got in trouble last time.”

“Don’t mention it, but just promise you won’t bite off more then you could chew. I don’t you to come back in a bodybag” said the sister

Fefnir, then answered “ I promise. And you know what? How about after all of this is all done, how about I take you to that place you’ve always been wanting to go to, ok?”

With a cheer in her eyes she responded, “It’s a date bro!” She looks at her watch and sees it’s time for her to go. “Ahh Damn, I got to go. I’ll see you later Fefnir. Bye Onii-Chan!”

*End flashback*

After remembering this, Fefnir reached into his pocket and pulled out the device and grasped it in his hand.

“Sister, I hope this works” Thought Fefnir.

“Time to Die Fefnir! Blast Shot!” Zero Launched the blast at Fefnir, with the blast coming into Fefnir to end his life, he activated the shield…..

From outside the energy dome all that could be seen was a bright white light and then a firey explosion that consumed the inside of the dome.

End chapter 8. time of completion is 5:21 PM on October 12, 2005.

I’m sorry I haven’t updated this story for so long. Man it has been way too long. But a lot has happened to me in the past few months, let me tell you…

- I graduated from high school,

- Got my Driver’s licence

- Started College

-Got my first job

-And finished my first quarter in college

I think that’s allot for just under 3 months. Also as I started to continue this story I discovered the art of spriting, so that put me off for even longer.

Now for the story, I didn’t describe Fefnir’s sister for a reason. I will introduce her later in this story, and the Colbor vs. Harpuia will start next chapter, and the Fefnir vs. Zero fight will continue or finish in chapter 9. And also I haven’t forgotten Levi’s mission too, to kidnap the reploid timebomb. Also, I’d like to mention that if you Zero fans forgot, the Blast Shot is Fefnir’s EX skill. It’s like all the other fire ex shots, it hits a target and then explodes. Bashing everything with splash damage. Now I just made Fefnir use the move to it’s extreme: A giant blast that explodes
